Job Title: Controller
Location: Remote


We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join our growing company. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring financial integrity, and managing the financial reporting process. This position will be integral in supporting the company’s strategic goals and will work closely with senior leadership to drive financial decision-making.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management & Reporting:
    • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll processes.
    • Provide actionable financial insights to assist in strategic decision-making, identifying areas of opportunity and risk.
    • Oversee cash management activities, including cash forecasting, banking relationships, and liquidity management.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
    • Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
    • Assist with audits (internal and external) and ensure all records are accurate and well-documented.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise, train, and develop accounting team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Technology & Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess and implement improvements in financial processes, systems, and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the financial systems support the company’s growth.
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of equity compensation plans, venture capital, and related financial structures in the tech industry.
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in a software or technology company.
